An Italian variety originating from the Piedmont region of Northern Italy. Barbera expresses itself in the vineyard and wines in a similar way to Pinot Noir – we describe it as a ‘fruity version of Pinot Noir’ or ‘Pinot on speed’.
Very expressive berry-fruit with hints of dried herb and tobacco on the nose – the aromatics throw themselves out of the glass at you.
The palate has a gentle attack of ripe, clean fruit and silky tannins. Generous mid-palate depth moving through to a clean, lingering finish.
Hand-picked grapes from low-yielding vines. Bottled without filtration. Estate bottled and labelled, each bottle individually hand-numbered.
