Description
Under the direction of Chief Winemaker, John Kavanagh, our winemaking philosophy places a premium on the character of the site. The 2016 John Martin Pinot Noir was handpicked from the McLeod (42%) and Home Vineyards (58%), from the Martinborough Terrace. The distinctive Abel and 777 clones dominate (33.3% respectively), while the balance is made up of equal parts UCD 13 and UCD 5. After rigorous selection on the sorting table, 80% of the grapes were destemmed and the remaining 20% were whole bunch fermented in small stainless fermenters. Following post fermentation maceration, the wines are pressed off and aged for 12 months in French oak (25% new), before final selection for blending, fining and bottling.Product Details
